Research

An F1 car is one of the most photographed objects in the world, so every detail had to hold up against the real thing. I started by collecting reference from race weekends, launch events, and close-up studio shots, studying how the racing green shifts under different light, where the carbon fibre is exposed, and how the lime accents cut through the dark bodywork.

Shading

Paint is where a car lives or dies. The racing green needed depth, not just colour, so I built it in layers: a base coat, a subtle metallic flake, and a clear coat that holds sharp reflections. Carbon fibre, tyre rubber, and brushed metal each got their own treatment, so every surface reacts to light the way it would on track.

Texturing & Livery

A livery is a layered story of sponsors, stripes, and details, all wrapping around complex curves. I placed the decals and textures to follow the car's shape precisely, and added subtle wear like tyre scuffs and surface imperfections, so the car feels raced rather than freshly unboxed.

Lighting & Render

The final challenge was making a stationary car feel fast. I lit it like a night-time studio shoot: dark surroundings, strong rim lights to trace the silhouette, and a wet floor to double every highlight. The result sits somewhere between a launch-day reveal and a still frame from a race.
